Abstract: Charter of demands from Indian Railways Coal and Ash Handling Mazdoor Union, West Bengal, complaining about unfair working conditions of workers involved in loading and unloading of coal from railway wagons. These workers work for private contractors and are not treated as railway workers. The unions demands change in status of workers as permanent workers of the railways, a 48 hour work week, equal pay for equal work, payment of Bonus, Dearness Allowance, Provident funds, workers uniforms and raincoats, medical leave etc.
