dc.description.abstractInterview of Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary, Northen Railway Mazdoor Union and leader of HMS. Born in 1950, he joined railways in 1974, just before the historic strike, as an electrical chargeman. As his job was temporary, he was told by the union not to join the strike. In 1976, he organised a strike and Lucknow Bandh, in protest against beating of a railwaymen by the police, and won the strike. He also was part of the strike of 1991, on the issue of DA. He was in the Board of Directors in many railway cooperaive banks.en_US
