Abstract: Interview of Salil Kar, veteran union leader. Born in 1933 in West Bengal, he got active in politics from student days. From 1966 onwards, he became a full timer for CPI. He got deeply involved in the 1969 movement in Telco, Tinplate, India Cable and others. Also participated in the strikes of 1970s. After 1981, the JMU saw decline in its fortune.
