Title: Interview of Promod Gogoi

Abstract: Profile of prominent trade union leader, member of parliament and CPI leader from Assam, Promod Gogoi. Born in 1930, he joined CPI in 1947. Initially he organised printing workers and private bus drivers. In 1969, he organised oil anf gas workers on a larger scale, and the AITUC was able to regularise at least 1,000 workers. CPI also launched a movement for setting up a oil refinery in Assam.
