Title: Interview of Darshan Singh

Abstract: Profie of Darshan Singh, communist activist and trade union leader from Punjab. Born in Lahore in 1930, his family migrated to India after Partition. Initially worked in a engineering factory, and later joined the Bhakra Nangal Dam Project. Led a movement of 15,000 workers at the Bhakra project in 1952, where Singh and other leaders were arrested and jailed. Also launched a movement of farmers, against betterment levy, in 1961. Went on to organise various other industries and emerged as a prominent trade union leader.
