Abstract: Interview of Baijnath Rai, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Bengal State, Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh. A school teacher by profession, he also works as trade union organiser. He was born in 1946 in 24 Pargana, Bengal. His father was originally from Azamgarh and he worked in the India Paper Mills as a per cutter. Rai got into scuffle with SFI in college days and got associated with the ABVP. Got influenced by a speech of Deendayal Upadhyaya, when he came to Bengal. In 1968, BMS began the first organisation in Bengal and in 1970 the Bhartiya Jute Mazdoor Sangh was formed, with Rai as the Gen Sec. Rai said that in the jute mills, agreements are arrived at, but never implemented. Also organised streek hawkers of Howrah.
