Abstract: | Interview and profile of A.M. Gopu, President, AITUC, Tamil Nadu. Originally from a family of middle traders, he came into trade unionism through student politics and then peasant politics. During 1947-48, when the CPI was underground, Mr Gopu and three of his three colleagues were fired upon by the police. He worked with various trade unions - such as those associated with hotel, catering, cigar, tobacco, bidi, cycles etc. He was interviewed on March 11, 2005. |
