dc.description.abstractSEWA's union coordinator, Ms. Manali Shah's letter representing the case of 15000 bidi workers of Ahmedabad before the Labour secretary of Gujarat state. She complaint about the Sale Purchase system in bidi industry, which made difficult to establish the employer-employee relationship between employer and the bidi workers. She also pointed out the artificial lack of employment among the bidi workers a situation created by the bidi factory owners .She warned the secretary of the day when bidi industry could vanish from Gujarat thanks to the prevailing situation.
