Includes brief remarks on the struggles of the union for dearness allowance, in the freedom struggle, for wages, and against retrenchment in 1948 and the general strike in the same year. Union successful in its struggle for retrenchment compensation for 6600 workers in 1948, power-cut compensation for mill workers in Tamil Nadu with half-day wages for 45 days in 1950, etc.</description>
