Born in a farmers family, he got a post graduation degree in Commerce from the Nagpur University. Joined ONGC as an assistant accountant and immediately started union activities. Initially with HMS, but after coming in contact with Raja Kulkarni, joined INTUC. In 1992, e was elected joint secretary in the union. Since then, he has led the workers in various capacities.en_US
