dc.description.abstract Interview of Satpal Dang, veteran CPI leader and legislator from Punjab. Born in Ramnagar, present Pakistan, in a land owning farmer family, he went to the Govt College in Lahore for education. Became General Secretary of the Lahore Students Union. Later, he became the General Secretary of the Punjab Students Federation. Also got involved in organising textile workers in Punjab, especially on the question of gratuity. Elected as MLA from Amritsar West, for 12 years. Under his leadership, the Textile Mazdoor Ekta Union fought against the communal agenda of the Khalistani movement, and maintained communal harmony of the workers. en_US
