In 1942, he led the railways workers movement. He organised militant struggles of workers in TISCO, and other places. The struggles of AITUC ensured wage revision, and introduction of variable DA, which was not there before. In 1972-73, a massive strike was organised in Bokaro, of both regular and contract workers.
