Profile of Chandi Prasad, prominent CITU leader and legislator from Bihar. Born in 1920s, he was from a family of landless workers. Got influenced by Sahjanand Saraswati, who was organising a movement against the Bakasht system, against the landlords, and joined him in the movement. Organised successful campaigns against hoarders during the Bengal famine. Currently he organised unorganised workers, such as Bidi workers, construction, sand carrying coolies, stone cutters, handloom workers and others. |
