dc.description.abstract Interview of Bishu Mukherjee, trade union leader, Benares, Uttar Pradesh. Born in 1928 in Benaras, he was from a upper caste Brahmin family and came into contact with Bengal revolutionaries when still a school going child. After joining AITUC, he organised the safai karamcharis, braving humiliation and insults from few Brahmins. Also organised water workers and textile workers of Benaras. Apart from these, he also organised unions in cement, mines, printing press and others. en_US
