Interview of Bhikubhai Baghela, President of Jamnagar Trade Union Council and Vice-president of Gujarat State TUC (AITUC). Himself a worker, Baghela is also the president of many unions, such as the Woolen Mills Workers Union, Zilla Salt Workers Karamchari Union etc. He narrates an event from 1953, when Stalin died, and the workers in the woolen mills wanted to go on a strike, as a mark of respect for him. But the INTUC controlled Union didn't agree to the strike. The workers nonetheless struck. |
