dc.description.abstract Interview of Anant Nagapurkar, Member of the General Council of AITUC, Vice-president of the Maharashtra TUC. Born in 1920, he joined CPI in 1941. Organised railway workers in Hyderabad from 1943 onwards, on direction of the party. Also organised textile workers in 1946 in Nanded, and organised the strikes of ST workers, engine cleaners and others in 1947. Hoited the National Flag on the eve of independence, to press for accession of Hyderabad to India. Also protected the workers settlements during the Sitaphal Mandi area communal riots. en_US
